DES MOINES – Last week, after making some of the most harmful and homophobic comments to be heard in the state house Republican Senator Dennis Guth doubled down on his comments telling the Des Moines Register in a video on its website what several Republicans have come up to him and thanked him for his comments.  As of yet, not one Republican elected official has yet to denounce the false and unbelievable statements by Sen. Guth.

IDP Chair Tyler Olson issued the following statement to Governor Terry Branstad who has yet to comment on Guth’s assertions.

“What Dennis Guth said was incredibly hurtful.  Governor Branstad, as the Republican party leader and our state’s top official you have a responsibility to condemn these comments and stand up for all Iowans,” said IDP Chair Tyler Olson.  “Five days after these ignorant statements we have heard nothing from you and your silence encourages this to continue. It’s time to join me in personally condemning these statements. Iowans deserve to know where you stand.”
