Show Your Support for Medicaid Expansion Tonight!

Dear Iowa Democrats,

One of the most important issues facing the state this session is whether we will expand Medicaid to 155,000 low-income Iowans who desperately need health care.  For months Democrats have been leading the charge to implement this policy and give the 60 year-old Iowan who just lost his job or the single mother who needs to go to the doctor the health care they deserve.

Unfortunately Terry Branstad and legislative Republicans are fighting the expansion every step of the way.

You can lend your voice to the effort to expand health insurance tonight around 5PM CDT as Senate Democrats debate the issue in the State Capitol.   Here is how you can participate:

  • You can watch the debate in person from the Senate gallery. Arrive early to be sure of getting a seat.
  • You can add your comments and read those of other Iowans at the Iowa Senate Democrats Facebook page or on Twitter by following @IowaSenate.  When commenting, use the hashtag #medicaidmadness or #ialegis to add your voice to the conversation.

I’ll be on the Senate floor tonight following the action, so make sure you lend your voice to this historic debate as well. Let’s stand up together and show Governor Branstad and the obstructionist Republicans in the state legislature that Iowans demand they do the right thing and expand Medicaid to the tens of thousands of Iowans who need it most.
Best Regards,

Rep. Tyler Olson
