DES MOINES – With chairman of the Republican National Committee Reince Priebus in Des Moines today, Iowa Democratic Party Chair Tyler Olson issued the following statement welcoming him to Iowa.

“The Iowa Democratic Party wants to welcome GOP Chair Reince Priebus to Iowa for his listening tour. And while he is only talking to Republicans today, he would learn more by taking a look at what Democrats are doing.  We have already shown what it takes to win elections - growing our economy from the middle out, expanding health care for those who need it most, and move our country forward.  Unfortunately, Republicans have not learned these lessons, and they continue to stand up for the wealthiest few, follow the Branstad model of denying health insurance to tens of thousands of Iowans, and focus on out-of-touch and extremist social issues that only work to take our country backwards.  Chairman Priebus could learn a lot on his trip, but unfortunately, he is talking to the wrong crowd.”
