DES MOINES – Iowa Democratic Party Chairwoman Sue Dvorsky released the following statement congratulating Liz Mathis on becoming the Democratic nominee in Senate District 18:

“Liz Mathis has shown determination to get results, ask the tough questions, and strengthen her community. Now, she will put those traits to work for the people of Senate District 18 by standing up for them in the Iowa Senate.

“While Republicans resort to partisan sniping and embrace an extreme, Tea Party agenda, Liz Mathis continues to show real leadership that will keep our state moving forward. Whether it’s protecting education for the next generation, creating jobs in communities across the state, or advocating for middle class families, Liz is ready to go to work for her constituents.

“We continue to see an outpouring of support from local volunteers and community leaders who know what’s at stake in this race and will work to elect Liz Mathis to the Iowa Senate. With their support and an outstanding leader like Liz, I’m confident we will maintain democratic control of this seat.”

The Iowa Democratic Party has launched KeepTheMajority.com as the source Iowans to get involved in this election. More information about Liz Mathis can be found on her campaign website, www.Mathis4StateSenate.com.
