DES MOINES – Iowa Democratic Party Chairwoman Sue Dvorsky released the following statement regarding the adjournment of the current legislative session:

“Democrats have continued to be firm voices for middle class Iowans throughout this legislative session. Instead of allowing themselves to be sidetracked in pursuit of an out-of-touch agenda, they remained focused on having a serious discussion about how to create jobs and strengthen Iowa’s economy.

“While it took longer than most of us expected to reach this point, we are thankful that Democrats were finally met at the negotiating table. Neither side got everything they hoped for, but our Democratic leaders were able to reduce the impact that the Republican agenda will have on education, preserve many successful services, and keep Iowa on a path toward continued job creation.”
