Grassley on the GOP Field: "Only two or three of them are qualified to be president"

Radio Iowa reported yesterday on Senator Grassley’s warm welcome to the potential GOP field, or at least two or three of them.

Speaking to reporters, Grassley was critical of the field, saying “only two or three of them are qualified to be president.” He also indicated that some candidates would likely fail to succeed outside Iowa, adding, “it wouldn’t do me much good to back somebody that won in Iowa if they can’t carry on the campaign elsewhere.”

This leaves a big question unanswered, which two or three candidates are qualified to be President in the eyes of Iowa’s top Republican?

Is it Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Tea Party)? Reality TV and real estate star Donald Trump? Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, who has been struggling with foreign policy lately? Healthcare champion Mitt Romney? Or, maybe, Sarah Palin?

Senator Grassley hasn’t narrowed it down, but such a stark assessment from the Senator clearly doesn’t bode well for the Republican field in 2012.

Which candidates do you think he was referring to? Leave your ideas in the comments.
