That’s the number attending four-year-old preschool in the Sioux City school district alone. Chairwoman Dvorsky is meeting with elected officials and activists in Western Iowa this afternoon. (Yes, Democrats do exist out there.)
$1,609,589 in state funds are spent educating these children, and given the formula of every $1.00 spent on early childhood education yields $7.00 in savings, that leads to over $11.2 million in savings. HF45 would eliminate this highly successful program and Iowa House Republicans would replace it with a much weaker program. You can watch our web ad on preschool here.
Do you think eliminating preschool is a good idea? Tell us in the comments.
