After running unsuccessfully for governor three times, Bob Vander Plaats has found his niche in attacking equality for Iowans. In his new position as head of the activist group, The Family Leader, Vander Plaats has begun a fundraising campaign to remove the remaining four Iowa Supreme Court justices who voted to uphold the right of same-sex couples to marry in Iowa.

You and I know that discrimination has no place in Iowa or any other state and we will fight to keep it that way. In an email to supporters, Vander Plaats is trying to raise $8,000 by Jan. 1st to convince the justices to resign or face impeachment. We need your help to show him what Iowans really value and fight to protect marriage equality in this state.

Instead of spreading a message of hate and fear, as Vander Plaats plans to do, we will stand up for the rights of all Iowans to marry. Your gift of $25, $50, $75 or whatever you can afford will help us get our message out and support candidates who know what equality really means.

In his email, Vander Plaats wrote, “All seven Justices are guilty of overstepping the line by their votes in the Varnum decision, therefore we are asking for the remaining four Justices to resign in an orderly fashion. As long as the Iowa Supreme Court is comprised of justices that abuse their authority, the credibility of our court will be compromised.”
