Yesterday, Sue Dvorsky and Governor Culver met with labor leaders at IBEW Local 55 to discuss the coordinated campaign and answer their questions.

This was a great opportunity for Sue to introduce herself to the group in her new role as Chair of the IDP. She talked about her role as a negotiator for her teacher’s union and her experience dealing with state government in both parties.

The truth is that Democrats from the White House to the State House have done great things for working people since 2006.

  • The first bill signed by Governor Culver was an increase in the minimum wage.
  • The first bill signed by President Obama was the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act.
  • Health insurance coverage has been expanded to every child in Iowa.
  • Governor Culver signed Executive Order 22, requiring all state departments and agencies to consider using Project Labor Agreements on large-scale construction projects.

Democrats are on the side of working men and women, and especially on the side of organized labor.
