GRASSLEY PUTS PARTISANSHIP AHEAD OF JOB CREATION

Today, Senator Charles Grassley put partisanship ahead of job creation by voting against Congressman Bruce Braley’s HIRE Act.

The HIRE Act would create jobs throughout Iowa by providing incentives for small businesses to hire and retain new employees. The HIRE Act passed the Senate with bipartisan support, including the support of Senator Harkin.1

On March 11, in Council Bluffs, Senator Grassley said, “People want us to do something about jobs.”2 Yet, when Senator Grassley was presented with the opportunity to do just that and create jobs in Iowa, he chose to vote against the HIRE Act.3

“Senator Grassley is leading the partisan stalemate that has outraged countless Iowans and left 110,000 unemployed across the state,” said Iowa Democratic Party Chairman Michael Kiernan. “Time and time again, Senator Grassley puts his partisanship and loyalty to the Republican Party over what is best for everyday Iowans.”
