In a ceremony today, while surrounded by Iowa National Guardsmen, Governor Culver issued an official proclamation honoring the sacrifice of Captain Daniel Whitten of Grimes who was killed last month in Afghanistan.

Captain Whitten’s mother Jill was present to accept a copy of the proclamation and flags that were flown over the State Capitol. Along with State Rep Gary Worthan, members of the Iowa West Point Parents Club were there in support of the Whittens as well.
