Chairman Kiernan sent this email to supporters today regarding a change in one of Iowa’s top elected officials…
Friends,
If you thought Chuck Grassley worked for Iowans, then you were wrong. Chuck Grassley has cozied up to the fringe of the Republican Party, and now he represents their interests in Congress- not ours.
In August 2009, Chuck Grassley and Sarah Palin argued that President Obama’s healthcare plan would result in the federal government deciding “when to pull the plug on grandma.” That’s a claim that earned the “Lie of the Year” from Pulitzer Prize winning PolitiFact.org.
Last year, Sarah PAC, the political action committee of half- term Alaska governor-turned Fox News talking head Sarah Palin, gave Grassley the maximum contribution allowed by law during a primary.
Grassley is being rewarded for practicing the Palin-style politics of deception and fear mongering and we need your support to stop him.
Chuck Grassley has been in elected office since 1958 and has been elected time and again by portraying himself as an independent who works for everyday Iowans. It’s become clear over this past year that Grassley cares more about helping those who fill his campaign war chest than his constituents here in Iowa.
At the Iowa Democratic Party, we are doing everything we can to push back against the fringe of the Republican Party, but with the Grassley having the support of out-of-state politicians like Sarah Palin, we need Iowans like you to stand up and fight back.
Help us fight back today. We need your support stand up to the fringe of the Republican Party and demand that this kind of politics stops in Iowa:
Iowa Democrats are standing up and fighting for everyday Iowans to keep moving this state forward. Thank you for standing with us and working to help send another Democrat to the Senate to serve with Tom Harkin.
All the best,
Michael Kiernan
Chair, Iowa Democratic Party
