Loebsack warns of GOP’s fake census mailings

U.S. Rep. Dave Loebsack. D-Mt. Vernon, is reaching out to constituents in the 2nd Congressional District to warn of fundraising appeals from the Republican National Committee that mimic official U.S. Census documents.

Harkin: Recovery bill is working

Contrary to public opinion, the $787 billion federal economic recovery bill has worked in turning the economy around almost a year after it was approved, Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, said Thursday.
“At this time last year, the nation’s economy was shrinking at a frightening 6 percent annual rate, today the economy is expanding almost at 6 percent,” Harkin said during his weekly telephone news conference. “That’s no accident.” Read full article…
Culver brings I-JOBS grant to Clinton

There were smiles and cheers as Iowa Governor Chet Culver came to Clinton on Thursday afternoon. He brought an I-JOBS grant worth $2.5 million to help start a new wastewater treatement plant.
“Companies across the country and across the globe, they want to come to a community like Clinton that’s well-connected and has modern 21st Century infrastructure,” Gov. Culver said.
